Speaker’s Corner of London is not just an ordinary English school.
The very name of it, suggests much, much more. Those of you who have visited London and in particular Hyde Park may have noticed a very special place which reaches out to all free spirits.
Speaker’s Corner, situated in one corner of the park near Marble Arch. It is a space dedicated to freedom of speech. On the 1st Sunday of every month, people arrive with orange boxes, chairs and elaborate platforms placing them strategically around the corner of the park. They then proceed to climb up on their boxes and talk about whatever comes into their heads. All day crowds gather to watch and listen to these strange people.
The speakers, many of them idealists, range from complete lunatics to future prime ministers. Although for some, there’s no difference. The tourists love it and gather in their thousands. The orange boxes (platforms) are not only to help the speakers stand out but also to create space between themselves and the ground. A local law states that on this day, in this corner of the park, the people can speak about anything they want, without being arrested. As long as their feet don’t touch ‘Tierra firme’.
So, there you have it, this school is all about freedom of speech and its development.

In line with its development, the school which opened in 1996, has always kept to its principals by employing only native TEFL teachers and over the years has been able to call on a wealth of experience.
More than a thousand students have passed through our doors, taking on board local authorities (including the Generalitat and La Junta de Jaén), commercial enterprises (many of which are multi-nationals), charity organizations (ONCE), small businesses, examinations boards (Cambridge), press organizations (Oxford University press).
